CertBridgeNew York teaching certification guides
New York certifies teachers state by state, and the route that fits you depends on where you were trained and what you already hold. These guides explain the process in plain language and list the requirements that apply to every certificate title — not a single subject's list presented as universal.

Transferring an out-of-state teaching certificate to New York
New York does not swap one state's certificate for another. It evaluates the preparation program behind your certificate — and your own record — against New York requirements. Which of three starting points fits you depends on where you trained and what you already hold.
Applying for New York certification with a degree from outside the U.S.
If your teaching qualification was earned outside the United States, New York generally cannot match it to a U.S. approved program. That usually points to individual evaluation, where coursework and credentials are reviewed one by one — and where how your documents reach NYSED matters as much as what they say.
